Fanon is any element that is widely accepted among fans, but has little or no basis in canon. Sometimes it's a small event in canon that gets exaggerated; sometimes it's something in a fanfic story that gets picked up on and repeated by other writers until it's so common that newbies might think it's a canonical fact.

Fanon in Welcome to Hell fandomEdit

Common fanon elements within the Welcome to Hell Tumblr fanbase include Jonathan Combs's preoccupation with sandwiches[1] or playing guitar,[2] Sock Sowachowski's chronic tendency to speak to his knife as if it were a person,[3] and even their relationship outside platonic appearances (as is touted out of canon by Wester[4]).
